DAP must be praying Ong Tee Keat stays on forever as the worst MCA president ever

The photograph of a smiling Ong Tee Keat, holding hands with Dr Chua Soi Lek, this week is perhaps the most concrete proof that he is perhaps the most power crazy politician the MCA has ever had.

After all he is the man who started the MCA on what is probably the worst leadership crisis the party has ever faced.

And he started it by going after the head of Dr Chua.

Someone asked me a question the other day: “Why did Tee Keat have to tickle Soi Lek?”

Soi Lek may have been voted in as MCA deputy president in October 2008 and this was not exactly the kind of man Tee Keat wanted to work with.

But the point is Soi Lek was not a real threat to Tee Keat. He was never going to be made a minister. He could not hope to be party president as long as Tee Keat did his job as a leader.

But Tee Keat is not someone who unites. He is someone who divides.

The biggest mistake MCA delegates did was to elect him party president.

In 2001, when he was MCA Youth chief, the party wing saw an all out brawl between delegates at its assembly. That was probably the first sign of what a divisive leader Ong Tee Keat was.

In 2009, the MCA, already abandoned by the Chinese, is now facing its worst ever crisis, And Ong Tee Keat is the president.

Under Tee Keat the party now has three factions – his, Soi Lek’s, and Liow Tiong Lai’s.

In order for the MCA to win back the support of the Chinese, the party must stand united. That is the very basic thing that needs to be done.

Has Ong Tee Keat done that?

His supporters will blame everyone else. They will even come up with their flimsy excuses as to why he should not resign as MCA president.

To them, it does not matter that Ong Tee Keat had actually promised to resign.

So it does not matter that he has broken his promise?

So a man who breaks his promise so easily is still a man who can be trusted?

Since he broke his promise so easily, can he be relied on to keep his promise and not find other ways to break the so-called truce he has with Dr Chua now.

What else has he promised to do?

He has made a pledge to clean up the PKFZ mess? But how can he do so? He is no longer even on the task force set up by the PM.

In the run up to the next election, he will make promises to the Chinese community. He will tell them that MCA will safeguard their interests. Can he be believed? Or will he come up with more excuses.

His mercenaries had gone to town to tell people that Dr Chua was a “porn star” and his taped sex escapades could be used by Umno or other enemies to blackmail him if he remained deputy president.

What about Ong Tee Keat? He now stands as a liar because he said he would resign but now he does not want to.

If you were from the DAP, you would be laughing very hard now. There is an MCA president who says he will resign but breaks his word. In the next election all you would have to do is repeat that about Tee Keat and MCA candidates can kiss bye bye to winning back Chinese votes.

So if you support DAP and Pakatan Rakyat, you will be praying that Ong Tee Keat remains MCA president.

Watch this space for just what kind of a person Ong Tee Keat is.

  4. I personally don't like MCA, and I voted for opposition. If OTKeat is the worst MCA President, then LLSik and OKTing must be the very very worst worst worst MCA President?! hahahaha... don't tikam your own MCA image by using OTK as the benchmark. The public already knows that PKFZ is related to LLSik and OKTing. I would say OTKeat is fighting on the wrong platform only. Come to join the opposition, you will strengthen the force, we need leaders like you. MCA will be irrelevant next election, no point fighting on that platform. Let's admit it MCA is a family business to the top MCA politican. OTKeat also can't change that because it's been like that for decades since LLSiok.

  5. OTK is a good leader. however, since he chose to be with Dirty Old Man - as the Chinese saying," go along with black ink, you get dirty". HE should have stayed on wiht his team. It is he who, after listening to TLKer, deserted his layalist. He is not power crazy, but strategy wise he has to do that. But the Dirty Old Man should be treated like plague and keep him miles away if you want Chinese votes.
